The newly established Subnoto12 is the first Russian record label, aimed at advancing bass music in the country, call it dubstep, grime or however else. Meanwhile “Russian Subs Vol.1″ is the label’s first step on this treacherous path. The main aim of the “Russian Subs” compilation, which focuses on the national scene, is to both showcase Russian dubstep to the listener and show new angles of the musical genre. The CD presents five Russian musicians: Mek, Strider, Lhasslo, Urbanite and Mindlab, each with his personal interpretation of the difficult to define term dubstep.
